| The Flexcut Advantage
The
design of conventional wood carving tools was primarily based on the
need for production oriented carving of furniture and architectural
details. The hundreds of shapes, widths and bends were all developed to
carve ornamental motifs with as few cuts as possible.
Tool design really hasn't changed much since the
industrial revolution, however carving has. Wood carving has become an
art form for individual expression and one-of-a-kind sculptures. Flexcut carving tools have been designed to meet these needs. A Flexible Blade
As
the name implies, the Flexcut blade is flexible to give you more
control over your cuts.
When using a conventional tool, as the wood is carved
more deeply, the shank bumps the side of the depression (FIG. 1)
hindering the carvers ability to end the cut smoothly. In the past this
problem was solved by using a number of tools with a permanent bend in
their shank allowing the cut to be ended. The deeper the depression, the
tighter the bend. The problems with this method are: it requires a large
number of tools for infrequent operations, - the bends are permanent and
may not fit the task at hand, - you must search for the tool with the
proper bend.
Multi-functional
tools
Flexcut tools are multi-functional, and can take the place of a number
of permanently bent conventional tools. Their unique spring shank has
the ability to change shape as the contour of the wood dictates. When
ending your cut, you simply push on the shank of the tool with your free
hand (FIG. 2). The edge reverses angle and comes out of the cut.
Excellent edge
holding capabilities
Made of high carbon spring steel, the secret lies in their dual
hardness. The shank is tempered to the resiliency of a spring and the
tip is hardened for superior edge holding properties.
Razor
sharp
Each Flexcut tool is honed and polished. This give our customers a
flawless edge that's ready to use. Any subsequent sharpening can be done
just as you would with any conventional tool. Handle design
In addition to all the other advantages, Flexcut uses an ergonomically
designed handle to increase the comfort and ease of use. Its design
keeps the force of the stroke in the heel of the palm instead of a
tightly gripped tool.
